Breathe in, breathe out, namaste and sip.
What is Beer Yoga?
It might not have the “cardio” of Pokemon Go, but Beer Yoga, or as local brewer Big Rock calls it Brewga can be quite the challenge especially for beginners. But, as opposed to regular yoga there is a perk or shall we say a golden bonus at the end which you don’t get from other classes. Your ticket usually includes at least one beer. Ladies, this is a great way to get your man to come do some exercise with you! Gents, this a great way to get your lady out for a beer with you!

BierYoga, a studio in Berlin, describes it as:
“the marriage of two great loves — beer and yoga. Both are centuries-old therapies for body, mind and soul. The joy of drinking beer and the mindfulness of yoga compliment each other, and make for an energizing experience. BeerYoga is fun but it’s no joke. We take the philosophies of yoga and pair it with the pleasure of beer-drinking to reach your highest level of consciousness.”

Who started Beer Yoga? Where did Beer Yoga come from?
Beer yoga was the original creation of yoga instructor Mikki Trowbridge from Oregon, a state widely known for its unique yoga blends including Goat Yoga. No, I’m not kidd-ing (play-on words fully intended). Goat Yoga.
Mikki wanted to bring people together and that’s just what Beer Yoga does. It brings people together in a fun, non-intimidating environment to try yoga, but it also offers you an outlet for that post-workout endorphin rush to be social and meet people.
The perfect beer to drink during yoga:
Lululemon Athletics has even jumped on the bandwagon creating a special beer with Stanley Park in the spirit of Beer Yoga called Curiosity Lager.
