Do your New Years Resolutions involve getting into shape? Try Beer Yoga! Do you want to learn more about beer in 2019? Hit up Beer School! Here’s a list of all the beer-related events happening in January in Calgary and Edmonton for all you Albertans that want to start 2019 off with a bang (and a good beer)!
Calgary Beer Events:
When: Monday, January 7 @ 6:30pm – 10:20pm, Monday, January 14 @ 6:30pm – 10:20pm, Monday, January 21 @ 6:30pm – 10:20pm, and Monday, January 28 @ 6:30pm – 10:20pm
Where: The Brewer’s Apprentice, 448 8 Avenue SE
This course is presented by The Brewer’s Apprentice and instructed by Alberta Beer Festival’s head judge, David Nuttall.
Each class will cover a different topic, such as history of beer styles, how beer is made and beer’s many ingredients.
We will study beer’s characteristics and components, what makes a good beer and even learn how to judge a beer. You’ll learn about beer packaging, glassware and home brewing. Lastly, we will look at some food and beer pairings and talk about cooking with beer.
When: Wednesday, January 16 @ 7pm – 9pm
Where: Rocky Mountain Wine, Spirits & Beer, 225 58 Avenue SE
This is a class you are bound not to sleep through. Sip back, relax, and let the experts educate you on one of their favourite subjects: beer. Because life without beer would be, well, unbeerable.

Where: O.T. Brewing Company, 1155 44 Avenue SE, Unit e
Come and join the O.T. Brewing Company team to learn more about beers and how to kick start your 2019!
When: Friday, January 18 @ 6pm – 8pm
Where: J. Webb Wine Merchant, Market Wines, 520 77 Avenue SE
Pucker up! Tonight we will make your mouth water. Featuring a selection of sour beers, our Advanced Cicerone, Kevin Rechsteiner, will walk through the history of sour beer, how it’s made and what it pairs best with!
When: Thursday, January 31 @ 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Where: Wine and Beyond, Sage Hill, 55 Sage Hill Plaza NW
Have you ever wondered how to properly age your beer? We’ll explore the proper techniques in cellaring beer and how the aging process affects the aroma and flavour over time. Learn what types of beer are best to cellar and sample a variety of beer crafted locally and internationally.
Beer Events in Edmonton:
When: Wednesday, January 9 @ 7pm – 8pm
Where: The Rec Room, 1725 99 Street NW
Come for the Yoga, stay for the beer. We’re spending an hour in poses that celebrate our bodies, celebrate beer with poses that allow you to sip while you pose. After the class, enjoy 40 credits of free play, included in your ticket, for games in the Yard – it’s the perfect way to end a yoga sesh.
When: Thursday, January 10 @ 6pm – 7pm
Where: Endeavour Brewing Company, 215 Carnegie Drive
Start your year off with a bend – and a brew! Yoga instructor Andrea Addison will lead you through 45min of yoga, followed by a chance to meet new people or hang out with your friends and enjoy a beer of your choice.
When: Thursday, January 17 @ 6pm – 8pm
Where: Alley Kat Brewing, 9929 60 Avenue NW
First came a beer and cheese tasting, then beer and candy, and now we’re pairing the ever delicious Zwick’s Pretzels with Alley Kat beer! We’ll be pairing five Alley Kat brews with five types of pretzels from Zwick’s… BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! Zwick’s will be preparing two very special beer cheeses made with our very own Scona Gold Kölsch and Buena Vista Brown Ale!
Your ticket includes the cost of beer, pretzels, and accompanying goodies.

Are you a professed beer nerd looking to expand your knowledge? Have you ever wanted to know what goes into your favourite pint? Maybe you have a beer enthusiast on your holiday shopping list, but no idea what they like? We here at Endeavour Brewing have got you covered! Introducing Craft Beer 101: an in-depth introduction to all things craft beer. The seminar, hosted by Head Brewer Matthew Atkins and our very own Certified Beer Server Eric Cherrington, will answer every question you have ever had about the world of craft beer.

Whether your new year resolution is to get fit or drink more beer we have you covered! Join us January 21 for our very first Yoga & Beer Event!!
Certified yogi Kelley Reynolds will lead you through a 1 hour yoga class followed by your choice of Beer or Kombucha. Your first drink is included, additional drinks available for purchase. Bring a friend or meet new friends and cozy up by our fireplace. Suitable for all yoga levels. Please bring your own mat.

Where: Sea Change Brewing Company, 9850 62 Avenue NW
Finally, the partnership you have all been waiting for! Sea Change Brewing Co and Farrow have teamed up to bring you 2019s tastiest collaboration! Please join us for a magical evening of beer paired beautifully with donuts. Ticket price includes four five-ounce samples of delicious beer paired with four scrumptious mini donuts. Doors are at 6pm with a full food menu available and then donuts and beer to follow at 7pm. Seating is on a first come first serve basis so show up early to sit with your friends!

Where: CRAFT Beer Market, 10013 101A Avenue NW
Come build a LEGO set with us – this month we’re tackling the Las Vegas Skyline. It’s the perfect addition to your office, to get you through until your next vacation. At the event, your first beer is on us, and we want you to come out and build a LEGO set, bring it home and also build community on a fun date night in Edmonton, hosted at CRAFT beer market.
Your admission cost includes Las Vegas style games, one lego set, two beers and admission for one couple to the event.
When: Saturday, January 26 @ 7pm – 10pm
Where: Green Bean Java Bistro, 11120 142 Street NW
Join us as we journey through 7 appetizers, each featuring a delicious cheese, and pair them up with some great beers from around the world.
