Canadian Breweries Release Beers in Support of Equality and Social Justice

Breweries across Canada are partnering with San Antonio-based brewery, Weathered Souls, to produce a beer in support of BIPOC communities and the Black is Beautiful campaign.

Canadian Breweries Release Beers in Support of Equality and Social Justice

Canadian Breweries join forces with San Antonio-based brewery, Weathered Souls, to release craft beers in support of the Black is Beautiful initiative. The campaign was created in efforts to bring awareness to the injustices faced by people of colour worldwide.

“Our mission is to bridge the gap that’s been around for ages and provide a platform to show that the brewing community is an inclusive place for everyone of any colour.” says the Black is Beautiful website. “We are asking for all breweries and brewers far and wide to raise a glass with us in unison and participate in this collaboration.”

What is the Black is Beautiful Campaign?

The Black is Beautiful campaign was created by Weathered Souls Brewing as a collaborative fundraiser and awareness program that invites breweries around the world to donate the proceeds of one beer to a local organization or campaign of their choice that supports equality, diversity and inclusion.

The proceeds from Weathered Souls’ Black is Beautiful Stout will be donated to the Know Your Rights campaign which is an initiative that is committed to the “liberation of black and brown communities worldwide, through eduBlack_is_Beautiful_1500-1cation, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization and the creation of new systems that elevate the next generation of change leaders.”

Many breweries across the United States and Canada have joined Weathered Souls in the campaign by creating their own versions of the Black is Beautiful stout. All “Black is Beautiful” beer cans worldwide will feature the same design, however, each beer’s flavours, styles and profiles will contain the brewery’s own personal twist.

How to Support Locally

Beer drinkers can support in the simplest way: all you need to do is buy a beer! Purchase a beer from any supporting breweries and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to a local organization.
