You Need To Try This New Nanaimo Bar Flavoured Beer
Combining your favourite treats and beer is always a good idea. Vancouver Island Brewing’s newest good idea is a beer inspired by a Canadian favourite pastry – the Nanaimo Bar. An idea so good, we kind of wish we thought of it first.

This is not a drill. Dessert flavoured beers (also known as Pastry Stouts) are all the rave right now in the craft beer community and why wouldn’t they be? Combining your favourite treats and beer is always a good idea. Vancouver Island Brewing’s newest good idea is a beer inspired by a Canadian favourite pastry – the Nanaimo Bar. An idea so good, we kind of wish we thought of it first.
Vancouver Island Brewing’s brews Nanaimo Bar flavoured Imperial Porter
The Nanaimo Bar Imperial Porter is the newest brew in Vancouver Island Brewing’s “Tidal” Series. Which are one shot, limited edition brews that will be brought back seasonally, if they are successful amongst beer drinkers. And we have no doubt that the Nanaimo Bar inspired Porter will be a crowd favourite!
About the Nanaimo Bar Imperial Porter
Vancouver Island Brewing describes the Nanaimo Bar Imperial Porter as “A Porter that combines the many layers of the classic Nanaimo bar. Starting with chocolate on top, vanilla in the middle, and finally a base note of coconut with a decadent sweetness throughout. A venerable bake sale treat in a can.”
The porter has an 8.2% abv and 32 IBU.
Where to buy the Nanaimo Bar Imperial Porter
Currently, the Nanaimo Bar Imperial Porter is only available in British Columbia. Which is a total bummer for the rest of Canada, but the Nanaimo Bar is native to BC, so we’ll let them have this one.
If you are one of the lucky ones and live in British Columbia, the limited edition Nanaimo Bar Imperial Porter is available at various liquor stores and on tap across various pubs, restaurants and bars across the province. Check out the Vancouver Island Brewing ‘Beer Finder’ here.

The New Alberta Beer Tax: This Means War
Alberta’s new tax has taken the Canadian beer industry by storm.
