Abzug by Heater Allen Brewing in Oregon, United States

About Abzug by Heater Allen Brewing

This is Heater Allen's version of a historical beer brewed in Austria in the mid to late nineteenth century. Abzug translates to "discount" in German. In the 1800's this was the "lesser" cousin to Vienna and Marzen lagers. This version is just over 4% ABV, and more golden in color, rather than a true amber. They hop and dry-hop this with Czech Saaz hops so that the beer is a true Austro Hungarian Empire feel.

Heater is Rick's wife Jan's maiden name, and Allen is his last name. He figures that you should always give your wife first billing. While Rick has little German heritage on his side of the family, most of Jan's family is of German descent. Their daughter Lisa who works for the brewery is a true Heater Allen.
