Community Brew by Royal City Brewing Company in Ontario, Canada

About Community Brew by Royal City Brewing Company

For the last 6 years, springtime at Royal City Brewing means that The Ward Room is filled with baby hop plants ready to find homes. Each hop is picked up in exchange for a $10 donation to Autism Behavioural Services in Fergus. Royal City sends each hop to its new home to be planted in backyards across the city and nurtured all summer long. Over the last 6 years they've found homes for over 600 hop plants across the city of Guelph and beyond! In September, they invited the backyard hop growers, new and from years past, to come back to the brewery with their harvest and contribute to this collective beer, Community Brew!

Pours a beautiful cloudy golden colour with an off white head. The hop character on the nose is a combination of lemon, forest floor, and fresh cut grass. Spicy Belgian yeast character pops from the glass. On the palate, a cracker-like grain character leads into a hit of lemongrass and pepper, with earthy and grassy hop character coming in underneath. The beer finishes with a big hit of spiciness and a refreshing amount of bitterness. This beer is full of life. Bright yeast character, paired with fresh green hop flavour. Somehow both rustic and elegant.

Made by the people of Guelph, for the people of Guelph.
