Dark, malty, some bitterness, smooth, easy drinking
It was not until modern kilning of malts in the early 1800’s and the discovery of cold fermenting Lager strains in the 1840’s that allowed all the beautiful flavors of a Dunkel to come to life. Dunkel, including Chuckanut’s, are typically a deep reddish-brown color, capped by an impressively sturdy tan head. The lightly roasted, toffee, coffee, and even licorice notes are a direct result of the malts used. GABF Gold medal and World Beer Cup Gold medal.
FOOD PAIRING: Caramel flavors pick up on browned meats and pan juices making our Rib Eye specials perfect with Chuckanut Dunkel. Dunkel is a great choice for handling sweet and sour combinations, try it with the Thai Beef Salad. Bratwurst is great with Dunkel, too. It’s a great lunchtime accompaniment with a Rueben sandwich or just about any sandwich containing bacon.
