A Dubbel, meaning “double” is an elusive beer style historically as it has had a wide range of colour from pale to dark brown, bitterness from 10-30 IBU, and alcohol from 4 to 12%ABV. Dubbel was used to categories and describe beers brewed in the tradition of the Trappist breweries. Trappist beer is brewed by Trappist monks and currently there are fourteen monasteries, six in Belgium, two in the Netherlands, and one in Austria, Italy, England, France, Spain, and the United States that produce beer recognized by the International Trappist Association. Many of these breweries didn’t even brand their beers as dubbels, it just became a place holder or category for the beer style.
The Luxury is our homage to these great brewing traditions of these Abbey Ales brewed with some amazing Franco-Belge malts and munich malt from Horton Ridge. An addition of special dark Belgian Candi sugar was added to the kettle to enrich the colour and luxurious flavours and mouthfeel. This beer comes complete with comfortable lighting.
