The Maibock or Beer of May is the highlight of Munich’s Spring Beer Festival, Frühjahrs-Starkbier-Festes, which begins on March 19th on St. Joseph day. Its release announces the end of the strong winter beers and the arrival of lighter summer beers. Recent evolution of Munich strong brown beers, the Maibock is the result of scientific investigation and technological advances in malting and brewing which allowed the production of pale beers.
