About Old German Premium Lager by Pittsburgh Brewing Company

Little Herman the German grew up watching his Opa and Omi brew beer in their small stone cottage in Hamburg, Germany. As demand for their charming concoction grew, and the hobby transformed into a business, the family made a promise to never let money or pride spoil the crisp taste of their easy-drinking lager. Herman the German kept that promise when he took over the family business, and he continues to share his family’s original recipe with the world at an honest price.

Our story begins 1861 when Edward Frauenheim arrived from Germany with the original Iron City recipe in hand. Ever since, innovation has been a hallmark of Pittsburgh Brewing.
