Back when Fuller’s originally brewed Double Stout, stout simply meant strong. Now, of course, in modern brewing parlance, stout is a style all of its own. It’s to be expected that a few things have changed in that time though – we first brewed it in 1893.
Almost black but with crimson highlights, this creamy beer offers a rich, fruity aroma and smoky, bittersweet chocolate notes. Bitter hops find the tongue, but they’re balanced by creamy malt, as the beer draws towards a velvety, lasting finish with hints of dark fruit, chocolate and coffee.
