About Privateers 1882 Ale by Wayfarers' Ale Society

An easy-drinking blonde ale that recalls Nova Scotia's dark and boisterous seafaring past, with a touch of roasted malt giving a hint of deep chocolate flavour. A combination of English and Continental hops that harks back to an age when the order of the day was 'sink, burn or take her a prize'.

The name Wayfarers' Ale is a tribute to an old custom in England where medieval travellers, 'wayfarers' as they were known, would stop at local churches, knock on the door, and be given a small horn of ale and a piece of bread to refresh and help them along their journey.
