About Swallowtail Light by Picaroons Traditional Ales

The iconic Swallowtail Lighthouse, first lit July 7, 1860, was built on Grand Manan Island as a response to the tragic wreck of the Lord Ashburton in January 1857 where 21 sailors died. The site chosen was a headland called the “Swallow’s Tail” near the entrance to the harbour at North Head.
