Wee Howler sports a blend of floor malted Maris Otter malt from England, pale 2-row malt from the US and a blend of crystal and roasted special malts to develop the rich malt character that is a hallmark for this beer style. During the brewing process we extend the kettle boil to enhance the malt nose of the beer, and to develop toffee and caramel aromas. Hops are used sparingly to just barely balance malt sweetness. And for fermentation we use a special Scotch Ale yeast known for its super clean, seemingly ester-less profile. Wee Howler is a fantastic, strong ale that truly typifies the style.
