A PASSION FOR GREAT BEER & FOOD

We opened our Solon location in 2013, not knowing what would become of our small brewery and restaurant. The “rural contemporary” concept brought homegrown authentic ingredients into a contemporary setting. In 2017, we opened our second location in Iowa City, a booming 28,000 sq-ft brewery, restaurant and entertainment venue. Our goal remains the same: to produce clean, dry, effervescent, aromatic beers and provide authentically prepared food sourced from homegrown ingredients whenever possible. HOW IT ALL STARTED

In a corner booth at Reds Alehouse in North Liberty, Iowa, Matt Swift, Faye Swift and Doug Goettsch solidified a dream and formed a partnership to bring a brewpub and restaurant to life. We settled on Solon, Iowa, where we were welcomed with open arms by the community. Solon continues to remain our flagship location. As our reputation grew for brewing delicious beers, it became evident that expansion was necessary. Big Grove Iowa City was born by renovating a 28,000 sq ft lumber yard. Our ownership team grew with the addition of executive chef Ben Smart and managerial genius Dan Standley. The two locations offer two distinct experiences. Solon offers a full sit down menu, while Iowa City offers an expansive taproom, our main brewhouse, and a global menu. Please enjoy our award-winning beer and food at either location.
