About Black Star Line Brewing Co.
Black Star Line Brewing Co. builds upon the legacy of Black excellence. The founder of Black Star Line Brewing Co., L.A. McCrae, wanted a name to convey power, strength, resilience, healing, and liberation for the most marginalized and dispossessed. What could be a more better name?
This is the FIRST Black, queer, woman owned brewery in the Asheville, North Carolina area. AVL is often known as "Beer City, USA" due to the number of craft breweries that have popped up over the last two decades. However, the industry and owners (as well as employees) are un-surprisingly and almost exclusive all white and mostly male owned and centered. Our brewery is a chance to change that narrative and create space for women, people of color, queer folks, and other folks with marginalized social identities. It is the spot that is truly for us and by us.
We're not a big-box brewery that seeks to produce thousands of gallons per year. We're interested in cultivating a new taste and flavor with each one of our brews, brewing with purpose and conscious. We specialize in super small batches so that we can continue to develop and produce new and more delicious recipes. Also, we're about intersectionality and bringing all of who we are to each bottle (or keg!) that is offered. While there are many things that make us unique, we believe we are the only brewery that uses anointed water and moon water as one of our core ingredients. If you're note sure what that is, feel free to ask our resident healer and ritual poet.
To date, the entire brewery has been funded by #grassrootsreparations! we would like to see that continue. If you are interested in partnering with us, please let us know! We can only grow and expand to our full potential due to the suppor tof community members and allies like yourself.
