About Hale's Ales Brewery & Pub

In the early 1980's I found myself living in England, and had the good fortune to begin my brewing education at a 150 year-old brewery - Gale's Ales, in Horndean. After returning to the great Northwest I opened my first brewery in Colville, Washington, on July 4, 1983.

Since that first brew over 30 years ago Hale's Ales has built breweries in Kirkland, Spokane, and here in Seattle. Throughout that time Hale’s has continued to be owned and operated as an independent brewery, longer than any other in the Pacific NW. Our goal has always been to stay true to the original idea of a “microbrewery”: to produce and serve fresh, locally brewed ales of the very finest quality.

We strive to be conscientious about our environment in many ways. Solar panels are used to heat the water for brewing and pub operations. In our Pub, we source the best local foods: freshly baked, organic breads, Northwest Grass Fed Natural Beef, free range, hormone-free chicken, organic salad greens, and many other natural products. We offer gluten free and vegetarian options. It’s important to us to support our local economy and "do the right thing."

Thanks for checking us out -- when you come by to see the Brewery or visit the Pub we'll do our best to make your experience the best it could be.
