About Hansa Borg Bryggerier
Despite the fact that we can boast over 400 years of brewing experience together, the company Hansa Borg Bryggerier has a relatively short history.
The company Hansa Borg was created when Hansa merged with the traditional and family-owned Borg Brewery in Sarpsborg in 1997.
Østfoldsbryggeriet has been owned by the Egenæss family since 1905. With solid brands and quality brews in mind, the two breweries became a strengthened Norwegian brewery player, which strengthened in 1999 when Christianssands Bryggeri became part of the Norwegian brewery family Hansa Borg.
In 2006, Hansa Borg bought 100% of the shares in the company Olden Brevatn AS, a company in which Hansa Bryggeri had been the main shareholder since 1992. With the ownership in Olden Brevatn, the brewery group became a beverage player with a wide range of its own brands.
Hansa Borg Bryggerier became the main shareholder in the Grimstad-based brewery Nøgne Ø in November 2013, and in autumn 2021 Hansa Borg entered into an agreement to acquire Vinestor - one of Norway's leading wine importers.
On 25 May 2022, we could announce that Royal Unibrew has purchased the remaining 75 percent of Hansa Borg Bryggerier, which makes Royal Unibrew the sole owner. In combination with Solera Beverage Group, which Royal Unibrew acquired in September 2021, the ownership in Hansa Borg Bryggerier will give Royal Unibrew a strong market position within beverages in Norway.
Today, Hansa Borg Bryggerier is the second largest brewery group in Norway and accounts for around 20% of the beer market share.
