About Kennebunkport Brewing Company
The Birthplace of Shipyard
Kennebunkport Brewing Company is the birthplace of Shipyard Brewing Company’s award winning-line of handcrafted ales. In 1992, entrepreneur Fred Forsley and master brewer Alan Pugsley established the Kennebunkport Brewing Company (KBC) and Federal Jack’s. Word of our fine ales spread quickly throughout Maine. Demand quickly outpaced our size, and, in 1994, Shipyard Brewing Company Shipyard Brewing Company was built in Portland, Maine.
The Kennebunkport Brewing Company is a classic English-Style brewery. All of the ales served here at Federal Jack’s are brewed on-site daily, with each 7-barrel batch yielding 217 gallons of brewery fresh, local ale.
Kennebunkport Brewing Company was built on the site where Kennebunk’s historic 19th century shipyards built schooners known throughout the world. One of the most famous ships built here on the Kennebunk River was the “Federal Jack.”
The original line-up included Goat Island Light, The Shipyard Export Ale, ‘Taint Town Pale, and Bluefin Stout…all of which are still brewed on site today! We still brew these classic recipes, while continually striving to add new and creative offerings to our draft list.
