Tooheys Brothers

Tooheys was founded by two brothers: John Thomas Toohey and James Mathew Toohey. They were Irish migrants who ran pubs in Melbourne, they moved to Sydney in 1860's, their aim was to brew beer rather than serve it.

In 1869 they established Tooheys and bought the Darling Brewery in Darling Harbour and started brewing beer.

The Stag on every bottle came about when John and James celebrated their beloved local pub, the Bald Faced Stag.
