Uncle Leo’s Brewery does not host formal brewery tours. However, samples are available at the store and most of our operations are visible through viewing windows in the tasting room. Should you have any additional questions our staff will be glad to answer them for you. If you want to take a tour through the production area we will accommodate you if there is sufficient staff available and the production area is not too busy.
My Great Uncle Leo Whiffen lived in Southern Harbour, Newfoundland. The same outport community I grew up in on Placentia Bay. It was there Uncle Leo ran a small general store and he made beer. In the winter months he stored his bottles of beer in the attic next to the stovepipe so they wouldn’t freeze. Beer was hard to come by in 1940’s rural Newfoundland. If you wanted to enjoy the occasional ale you probably made it yourself or… you went to Uncle Leo’s.
